The closest swimming beach is at the Garden Routes’ world famous surfers paradise, Victoria Bay, 10 minutes drive away. Wilderness, 15 minutes away has miles of unspoiled beaches, hiking trails, canoeing, paragliding, craft markets and restaurants. The inland lakes start at Wilderness and meander north until they reach Sedgefield, home to beautiful beaches and a vast lagoon. On Saturday’s, Sedgefield is turned into a bustling hive of activity with the internationally acclaimed Wild Oats farmers market. George, 20 minutes inland, is a burgeoning town with shops, restaurants and cinemas. From George cross the Outeniqua mountains to Oudtshoorn, home of the Cango caves, ostriches and feather barons. Take Baines’ Swartberg pass to the charming hamlet of Prince Albert and then explore the majestic valleys and passes of Route 62.
Nowhere in the world offers the variety and splendor of the golf courses that are found along the Garden Route including Fancourt, Pezula, Sparrebosch and Ernie Els’ Ou Baai.
For the adventurous bungee jump, scuba dive, parasail, canoe or sail in the many inland lakes or out through the Knysna heads to the ocean.
